Ermina Latifagić Iljazović was born on August 18, 1964, in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina where she has finished primary and high school education. Upon graduation from high school she enrolled to Faculty of Medicine at University of Tuzla. In April 1990, after finishing Faculty of Medicine her first employment was as secondment physician, after which she was delegated to pathology resident at the Department of Pathology, University Clinical Center Tuzla. In February 1998 she completed her residency and became pathologist. Over the next two years she has improved her knowledge on new methods in molecular diagnostics of HPV detection and cervical cancer prevention methods in Columbia-Missouri, USA; Ljubljana, Slovenia; and Strasbourg, France. In June 2007 she was appointed as Head of Department of Pathology at University Clinical Center Tuzla. During her residency she was also assistant at the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Tuzla. In May 1996, after defending her Master’s thesis in tumors of female genital organs, she was promoted to senior teaching assistant. In December 2000 she received her PhD degree in the field of molecular pathology, HPV and cervical cancer diagnostics, after which she was elected as Assistant Professor and then as Head of Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine. She was leading lecturer of “Diagnostical methods in biomedical science” module on doctoral program of Faculty of Medicine, University of Tuzla. In 2006 she became Associate Professor, and in 2012 received her title as Full Professor. As a lecturer she participated and was part of doctoral studies of School of medicine, University of Split, European School of Oncology masterclass and many other regional and international gynecological pathology and oncology meetings. She is a member of European Society of Pathology (ESP), the Breast pathology and Gynecological Pathology Working Group of the ESP, European Cervical Cancer Association (ECCA) , European Society of Gynecological Oncology (ESGO) and ESGO Task Force. She is a member of international project of HPV and cervical cancer prevalence and distribution in the world and other HPV-related malignancies working group. She is a member of Malignancy Committee of Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina and member of Bosnian Hercegovinia -American Academy of Art and Science (BHAAAS).
