Seiwerth is Head of Department of Pathology and Institute of Pathology University of Zagreb School of Medicine and vice-dean for student affairs. He serves as a General Secretary of Croatian Society of Pathology, National representative in UEMS section/Board of Pathology and EAPCP, Secretary general of the UEMS section/Board of Pathology (second term). He is also founding member of the International Academy of Telepathology, and member of the Committee for Telepathology of the ESP. He is also the president of the Committee for Pathology appointed by the Ministry of Healthcare and the responsible person for the Residency training program. In this capacity he was also invited to present the Croatian experience in residency curriculum development to the Greek Society of pathology members. Prof. Seiwerth’s scientific interests include tumour pathology, lung pathology, bone pathology, telepathology, quantitative pathology, experimental pathology and pathology teaching. He is the author and co-author of 174 full papers in peer reviewed journals cited in Pub Med, among them more than 150 in CC indexed journals, more than 200 in WoS Web of Science), as well as chapters in textbooks of pathology used in for graduate training in Croatia, of which he co-edited the last (4th) edition. He also served as co-author of one chapter in WHO Blue book (Lung, Pleura, Thymus, Heart, Lyon 2015). Prof. Seiwerth served as Assistant to the editor in Experimental and Clinical Gastroenterology, The International Journal, Pergamon Press, London. (1991-1994), Editorial board member of Electronic journal of pathology and histology (2000-4), and Diagnostic pathology (2006-). He was the organizer of numerous scientific and professional meetings, including 2001 International meeting on standardization in Telepathology, the annual “Saltykow Memorial Meeting”, and European School of Pathology Zagreb edition. During his more than 30 years of service at the Department of Pathology he mentored successfully twenty PhD and major theses as well as several student’s scientific paper awarded with deans or rectors award. He is regularly mentoring residents in pathology and cytology as well as other clinical specialties during their rotation at the Department.
